Your best bet would be to call the customer service number on your BCBS card and ask them directly. Then you’ll know up front exactly what they will/will not pay for.

Well you get what you deserved! Maybe you should try a healthy alternative to getting surgery. Like exercising maybe join a gym? Or how about putting down that twinkie! As for your insurance company paying for the Gastric Bypass I am almost positive that your company will not pay for it but it also depends on what coverage you have. Maybe you should call them instead of asking it on ya.
Depends on the coverage your employer provides/purchased from BC/BS. There are different levels of coverage and benefit packages that they can purchase. You should look at your enrollment package and it will list covered and excluded procedures. You can also call the membership services dept of BC/BS and they can explain if your coverage incldes gastric bypass.
That is the only definative way to know~otherwise someone may tell you yes because their policy covered it, only to find out your policy does not.
This is something only your insurance company can answer.

A close family member of mine had this exact same thing done to him a few days ago. Your doctor will have to submit it to the insurance company for approval. Every insurance company is different, but my guess would be yes because they already had approved you for the banding and it didn’t work. My family member had both band removal and gastric bypass done at the same time.
