i got told it can be 35 and up

Weight loss surgery is rarely a good idea IMO.
People are often unaware of the level of risk and huge possible side effects (including chronic nausea).
You need to talk with your physician. I actually was just looking at this yesterday. Basically if BMI isn’t 40 or above (and or your’re not 100 lbs or move over weight) then the site says you would not qualifty. Hope this was helpful. Good luck.
