I am overweight and thinking of a way to get smaller. I am looking for some opinions on it before i decide to go further with it.

If you are large enough to consider weight reduction surgery, then you also have another concern after you lose the weight: excess skin. And the faster you lose the weight the more excess skin you’ll be left with. So if you can do it without you’ll be better off in the end.

Also, they have developed a new procedure in Europe that should be coming overseas soon. It’s like stomach stapling, but they place a balloon into your stomach and then inflate it. It’s noninvasive (they don’t cut you open), takes about an hour and then you go home. It last up to six months and then they take it out and can put a new one. If it breaks you’re safe. A much nicer alternative if you ask me.

My friend was the first person in our state to get it done. She lost over 120 lbs but is still very overweight.

In Europe they only do lap-bands, they don’t do gastric bypasses anymore but in the US lap-bands are still more rarely done. The doctor I saw won’t do them if you’re over a certain weight, for instance. He won’t do one on me.

They are adjustable which is a plus. They are only guaranteed for 20 years which is a minus.
